Newsletter 15 October 2018

We are pleased to announce that, since our last newsletter, our Stage 1 Grant application to the Scottish Land Fund has been successful. We have been awarded over £14,000, to carry out a feasibility study to allow us to look seriously into the possibility of acquiring the Old Thistle Inn and Coach House for the benefit of the Westruther community.

After a thorough tendering process, two firms have been appointed to take this forward – Smith and Garrett (Surveyors) and SKS Scotland (Consultants). Both firms have experience of working in this field, and SKS in particular have experience of working with community groups who have taken on similar proj
ects.

We have a deadline very early in the New Year by which to submit our application for the next stage of funding, and so before deciding whether it is worth applying, it is vital that we have a clear understanding of exactly what the community wants!

SKS will be holding a Community Consultation between 11am and 3pm at the Village Hall on 27th October 2018.

If you can’t make it to the community consultation but would like to speak to someone at SKS, you can do so by emailing Clare Whyte at clairewhyte@sksscotland.co.uk

You can also contact the steering group via email westruthercommunityproject@yahoo.com or by speaking to one of the members listed below if you have any questions or queries.
